The Historic Preservation Acquisition Fund was established in 2019 using hotel occupancy tax revenue. But it has been used just once — to buy the historic Montopolis Negro School at 500 Montopolis Drive, said Lindsey Derrington, executive director of Preservation Austin, which supports the increased use of the fund.
